Wonderpunk Vintage Tee Shirts: Chinese Dragon T-Shirt

The world's longest Chinese dragon is over 5 kilometres (3 miles) long.  It was constructed in Luoyang, in central China's Henan Province for a world record dragon dance performance.

Now that's one big serpent!

Of course, any decent vintage t-shirt collection needs a dragon t-shirt – so without further ado, here's the Wonderpunk offering.

Vintage T-Shirt Fell off the Back of a Truck?

Commentary on an Australian Global Idiom

Common household electrical items are no stranger to unconventional distribution methods.  The saying, 'fell off the back of a truck', generally relates to goods that, well... let's say are unlikely to have been obtained in an altruistic fashion.  Yet, any individual who uses the rear of a truck as their showroom probably isn't the type to bring home for a hot meal and pleasant chit-chat about current affairs.

The clandestine alleyway trade, and its associated sayings, are by no means unique to Australian soil however.  The English have their own adaptation of the 'fell of the back of...' saying, substituting the word truck for 'lorry'.  In the U.S., Seinfeld parodied the street trade in an episode involving the the distribution of shower heads.  If this was any indication, product variety abounds - the next big thing need not necessarily be a car stereo or home theatre system!

While the prices are likely to be bargain basement, the caveat emptor lies in the inability to return dysfunctional items, not because you weren't issued a receipt, but because the vendors seems to enjoy traveling, and as such are frequently on the move.

Nowadays, electrical appliances aren't the only objects to fall off the back of trucks.  It's become a popular pastime activity for people, as evidenced below.

Ahh, good times...

Vintage T-Shirt: The World's Most Violent City

A lot of people believe that Johannesburg is the most violent city in the world, although not according to recent data.  The un-esteemed title goes to the capital of Venezuela, Caracas, with a homicide rate of 130 for every 100,000 residents.

Don't let this put you off though, Carcass Caracas boasts a range of things to do and see, such as stately gardens (Jardin Botanico), a museum of contemporary art (Museo de Arte Contemporaneo), and of course the hallowed halls of academia (Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas).  What's not to like?  Clearly the Caracas tourism comission has a lot to work with.

Don't mean to alarm anybody, but is the sign above suggesting that in its absence, the activity is permitted?  eek..., perhaps a bullet proof vest would be an appropriate accompaniment.

1981: A Good Year for Arcade Games

Seems like only yesterday I was on holidays with mi dear old folks, forgoing the surf, sand and fun for fun of a different kind - you see, there was a war to be won, and the battleground was in the games room of the Pacific Caravan Park.

Leave the table tennis and billiards to the losers, all the cool kids were saving their hard earned, bobba-jobed 20 cent pieces for combat.  And there could be only one winner... only one could claim the the top ranked position in the Galaga virtual hall of fame.

Alas, if only I had the uniform, it could have been me... what was once modern is now the classic vintage t-shirt.

Bruce Lee Vintage T-Shirt: Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris - Who Wins?

-  Martial Artisan's Hypothetical -

Throw away the script, if the fight scene between Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon turned serious, who would have won?

Wonderpunk Vintage Retro Funny T-Shirts: 'Master'

Wonderpunk Vintage Retro Funny T-Shirts: 'Reverence'

Just because Bruce wasn't big on t-shirts in the heat of battle, doesn't mean you have to be.  Clearly he was a fit guy, but many aren't.  So err on the side of caution and keep a little Bruce close to your chest.  Who knows, the next time you're at the Colosseum (where this scene was shot), you may need it.
